Another day, another American festival cancellation at the merciless hands of COVID-19. Pour one out this weekend for Florida’s beloved Suwannee Hulaween festival, which will not return in 2020 due to health concerns related to the respiratory virus.
Suwannee Hulaween was scheduled to take place at The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park from October 29 – November 1. On July 21, organizers announced the festival’s cancellation in a statement, writing,
“It has become clear that despite our consistent efforts in tandem with The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park to create and maintain a safe onsite environment, the state of Florida is visibly not ready to host the Hulaween we all know and love… Unfortunately, given the information available, we are not comfortable moving forward with the event in 2020.”
Coordinators additionally hinted at a live-streamed alternative. Read the full statement below.
Hey y’all, plz read this important message… We did everything we could to hold on, but this community and annual experience together means too much to compromise. Thanks for your understanding and support, as always.
