Manics Constructs Their Varied Three-Track House EP ‘Event Horizon’

Manics releases new three-track ‘Event Horizon’ EP on Insomniac’s offshoot imprint IN / ROTATION.

LA based electronic duo, Manics, pull inspiration from melodic techno, italo-disco, trance, acid-house and indie dance on their new “Event Horizon EP”. The lead single, “By Your Side”, starts with Deherrera’s signature vocals before dropping into synth-laden melodic techno that evolves into italo-inspired arps for a dance floor journey from melancholy to happiness.

While the title track “Event Horizon” is inspired by classic sci-fi movies and otherworldly landscapes. Deherrerea’s vocals open the song up before layers of analog synths and vocal chops modulate over driving arpeggiated bass lines. The EP closes with “Money”; blending traditional disco motifs with rave-centric acid leads for a club-ready heater.

Manics speaks on their new three-tracker: “This EP pulls together a lot of elements from classic rave sounds, while bringing in heavier basslines and more driving synth tones. The ultimate goal with most of our tracks is to create something that works for both our live performances and DJ sets alike. This is our most rave-centric EP to date, so we couldn’t be more excited to release it with IN / ROTATION.”

Manics’ new ‘Event Horizon’ EP is available on all platforms via IN/ROTATION Records.
