Hustler Magazine Founder Larry Flynt Dead At 76

According to a recent report from TMZ, trailblazing magazine publisher Larry Flynt, who founded the famed, salacious publication Hustler, died yesterday(February 10) from heart failure. He was 76 years old.

Flynt launched Hustler in 1974, a time when sexual freedom was still taboo, so he faced many First Amendment issues while getting Hustler off the ground. Eventually, Flynt started Larry Flynt Productions, which produced Hustler TV and several porn videos and spin off adult publications. He even opened a casino with his signature Hustler brand in 2000.

Flynt tried his hand at politics, taking a shot at a presidential run in 1984 and then ran for California Governor in 2003.

In 1978, an attempt was made on Flynt’s life by serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin, which left him paralyzed from his waist down and wheelchair bound.

Flynt is survived by his six children, his wife Elizabeth Barrios and a host of grandchildren and great grand children.
